High Schools in Kissimmee Area

My family might be moving to Kissimmee, Florida, and I'm wondering about the high schools there. Are there any standout schools I should consider enrolling in? Trying to gauge what the academic and social scene might be like.

Kissimmee, found in Osceola County, Florida, is home to a variety of high schools that cater to different academic and social preferences.

Osceola County School for the Arts stands out as a magnet school that emphasizes arts education. If you have a strong interest in music, theater, or visual art, this might be a good fit. It's worth noting that this school often requires auditions or portfolios for admission, depending on the arts program.

Osceola Science Charter School is another good choice if you lean more towards the STEM fields. The curriculum places an emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics courses. Students have a chance to engage in hands-on projects to apply classroom theories which may provide you a comprehensive insight into the STEM field.

Celebration High School, though not located in Kissimmee but in the neighboring town of Celebration, is another school you might want to consider. It's known for its athletics programs and Advanced Placement (AP) coursework opportunities.

Gateway High School and Osceola County High School are also fairly large schools known for a myriad of extracurriculars and options for advanced coursework.

Socially, each school will have a differing atmosphere. It's challenging to generalize the social scene of a school without personally experiencing it. However, looking at the size of these schools, the variety of clubs, sports, and activities offered, can give an indication of what the social scene might be like.

Do remember, before deciding on a high school, consider what fits best with your academic and extracurricular interests. You might also want to take a closer look at these schools' graduation rates, test scores, and community reviews or schedule school visits if possible to get a better feel of the environment. Good luck with your decision!
