Should I consider Monmouth University for my undergrad?

I'm looking into Monmouth University and wondering what the advantages are of studying there. Any current students or recent grads willing to share their experiences with me? How about the majors and campus activities?

Monmouth University is a relatively small but well-established institution known for its excellent location near the beach and a close-knit community feel. It offers a liberal arts curriculum which can allow you to explore a variety of disciplines before deciding on a major or you can dive right into your chosen field from the start.

The university is especially known for its programs in Nursing, Oceanography and Communications. Nursing and Communications are particularly well-acclaimed and have ample facilities like health labs and a unique student-run Public Relations agency. Oceanography, a unique program rare for a university of this size, benefits from the school's coastal location.

In terms of campus activities, Monmouth University prides itself on offering a diverse range of extracurricular options. With over 120 clubs and organizations, there’s something for everyone. The campus radio station, WMCX, is a favorite for those into broadcasting or looking to explore music. There's also a vibrant Greek life with many fraternity and sorority options.

On the athletic front, the Monmouth Hawks, as they are known, compete in the Big South conference, and games, especially football and basketball, tend to draw a crowd. Even if you aren't an athlete, there are plenty of opportunities for regular student involvement in intramural sports.

Additionally, the school's location near the New Jersey shore is a major plus for students interested in beach activities. The proximity to New York City also provides access to internships and job opportunities, which can be particularly advantageous especially if you're interested in Business, Communications or the Arts.

Based on these factors, Monmouth University could be a compelling choice depending on your interests and preferred style of learning. However, as with any college decision, it's always wise to visit the school, speak with current students or faculty, and explore the academic programs and campus culture further to ensure it's the right fit for your personal and academic goals.
