What's Upenn's ranking status?

I've heard a lot about rankings, and I'm wondering how the University of Pennsylvania stands in them. Is it consistently high? Just trying to gauge how competitive it might be to get in.

The University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) consistently ranks among the top universities in the United States and globally. While rankings can vary slightly from year to year and differ between sources, UPenn usually falls within the top 10 nationally.

For the 2025 application cycle, U.S. News & World Report ranks UPenn as #8 in National Universities. Furthermore, UPenn's Wharton School is often considered the top undergraduate business program in the country.

Rankings aside, keep in mind that UPenn is part of the Ivy League, which itself signifies a group of eight highly competitive and esteemed institutions. Admission to UPenn is highly selective, with an acceptance rate often falling below 10%. It's important not to rely solely on rankings when considering colleges, but to look at fit, academic programs, campus culture, and other factors that will contribute to your college experience. But beware, such a high ranking expects an equally matched academic record, a strong profile in terms of extracurricular activities, leadership roles and commitment towards a particular interest or cause. Don't forget - it's also about how you present yourself in your essays!
