How large is the University of Maryland campus?

I'm curious about the University of Maryland and its campus size. Can anyone tell me how big the campus is, and does it feel spacious or cramped? I'm considering it for college, and campus vibe is super important to me.

The University of Maryland, College Park has a pretty sizeable campus, spreading across close to 1,335 acres. This includes all of its academic buildings, residential facilities, recreation and sports areas, and research facilities, among others. You can imagine it as somewhat of a mini-city right in the heart of College Park!

As for the campus vibe, based on feedback I've heard from many students, the campus doesn't feel cramped at all. In fact, you'll find a good amount of green and open spaces sprinkled around campus, which can certainly contribute to a sense of spaciousness. On one hand, you have bustling parts of campus where you can feel the vibrant energy from students—near McKeldin Library or Stamp Student Union, for instance. On the other hand, there are also plenty of quieter, more serene spots where you can study or unwind without being disturbed.

However, keep in mind that "spaciousness" can be somewhat subjective, and it depends on what you're looking for. Therefore, it's advisable to take a virtual tour or arrange a campus visit if you can, so that you can get a first-hand feel of the campus environment.
