Choosing among New Jersey public colleges?

I'm starting to look at public colleges in New Jersey and was wondering which ones are the most recommended? Any current students have insights on academics, campus life, or locations that really stand out?

New Jersey indeed has several notable public colleges! If you're interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) or Business, then you might want to look into the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Located in urban Newark, NJIT also offers a campus environment with a wide variety of student organizations and activities.

Rutgers University is the largest public university in New Jersey, comprising three different campuses across the state in New Brunswick, Newark, and Camden. Each Rutgers campus has its own unique atmosphere and academic strengths, making it quite versatile for various majors. New Brunswick is known for its strong programs in humanities and sciences, while Newark has standout Business and Criminal Justice programs. Camden is known for its Nursing and Business programs.

Also, The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) is quite reputable, particularly known for its competitive programs in Education and Business. Located in a more suburban setting of Ewing, the college has smaller class sizes and a tight-knit community.

For students interested in combining safety studies with a traditional college education, Stockton University has the unique "professional pathways" program. Located near the Jersey shore, it provides a picturesque campus setting.

Lastly, Ramapo College is strong in the liberal arts and has a very scenic campus in Mahwah, set amidst the Ramapo Mountains.

I would recommend looking into these colleges and identifying which meet your academic interests, preferred size, location, and campus culture. It's important to emphasize that choosing a university should be about considering what best suits your personal growth, career aspirations, and comfort.
