Exploring Liberal Arts Colleges and Universities in Ohio

I'm considering applying to some liberal arts colleges and universities in Ohio. What schools should I look into if I'm interested in a strong liberal arts education within the state? Any specific programs or campuses that stand out?

Sure! There are a number of excellent options to consider in Ohio for a strong liberal arts education.

The College of Wooster, located in Wooster, Ohio, is widely recognized for its focus on independent study and undergraduate research. Every student is required to complete a research project in their senior year, culminating in a written thesis which is then presented to faculty.

Oberlin College, located in Oberlin, Ohio, is a notable liberal arts college renowned for its programs in Music (Oberlin Conservatory) and Social Sciences. Oberlin encourages innovative and interdisciplinary studies and is known for its unique first-year seminar program, where students delve into complex topics with close faculty guidance.

Denison University in Granville, Ohio, is another strong choice. Denison offers numerous research opportunities and internships, and it has excellent programs in political science, economics, and communications.

Lastly, Kenyon College, located in Gambier, Ohio, also stands out for its strong programs in English and creative writing. Kenyon also offers an acclaimed study abroad program, great internship opportunities, and a very engaged alumni network.

Each of these schools has a unique culture and different strengths, so I would recommend visiting the campuses if possible, or exploring their websites and talking to current students or alumni to get a sense of which might be the best fit for you. Don't forget to check out smaller liberal arts colleges too, like Wittenberg University in Springfield and Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, as they can also offer exceptional liberal arts experiences.
