What's Penn State Behrend like for a college experience?

I'm thinking of attending Penn State's Behrend campus. Can anyone share their experiences or insights into what campus life and academics are like there? I'm trying to get a feel for whether it's the right fit for me.

As an academically engaged individual, I can provide some information about Penn State Behrend based on what I've heard and learned from different sources. It operates on the smaller scale when compared to the main Penn State campus, offering a more intimate and community-oriented environment. Students frequently note the small class sizes, which allow for individualized attention from professors and easily fostered relationships with fellow students.

Penn State Behrend offers a wide range of academic programs, with Engineering and Business being quite popular choices. Since it's part of the larger Penn State system, the academics are solid, and students receive the same degree from Penn State. Also note that the Behrend campus has made significant investments in recent years into state-of-the-art facilities, which enhance the academic experience across various disciplines.

Speaking of campus life, Behrend weighs heavily towards sports, and school spirit here is strong. If you're interested in athletics or enjoy getting involved in team pursuits, this could be an advantage for you. Ample extracurricular opportunities exist which can foster leadership skills and nurture diverse interests. The overall vibe is friendly, and although the campus does tend to become quieter during weekends, Erie is nearby offering restaurants, shops, and recreational activities.

One potential downside, depending on your preferences, could be the weather. Located in northwestern Pennsylvania, the campus gets quite a bit of snow in the winter.

Ultimately, whether it would be the right fit largely depends on your preferences. If you appreciate a smaller, community-like setting, strong academic programs, coupled with plentiful extracurricular activities and sports, then Penn State Behrend might be an excellent choice.
