Does anyone know about life in suburban areas in Florida for students?

I'm thinking about attending college in Florida and am curious about the suburban areas. What is the lifestyle like for students in those areas? Is public transport available or do people mostly drive everywhere?

In suburban areas of Florida, life can be quite enjoyable for students. These areas are often characterized by close-knit communities, easy access to beautiful beaches, overall good weather, and plenty of green spaces for hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities. From the east coast with towns like Boca Raton near Miami, to the west coast with cities like Bradenton near Tampa, Florida's suburbs also host a variety of festivals, art and music events, and farmer's markets—giving you a good mix of cultural experiences and activities.

For transportation, the availability of public transit varies depending on the specific suburb. Some suburban areas in Florida offer relatively good public transportation options, with bus lines and trains available for commuting within the area or even to nearby cities. Many college campuses in Florida also offer shuttle services for students.

However, keep in mind that public transportation may not be as comprehensive or frequent as in a major metropolitan area, so many residents in these areas do rely on their cars for transportation. There might be some areas or points of interest that are not accessible by public transit. Hence, having a car or pooling with someone who has can sometimes be slightly more convenient. But remember, always weigh in aspects like parking costs or the availability of student friendly transportation offerings like discounted passes, etc.

There are also numerous bike-friendly towns around Florida, which could be an option if you're living close to where you attend school or work. Lastly, with the prevalence of apps like Uber and Lyft, getting around has become easier then ever, even if you don't have your own car.

The student lifestyle in Florida's suburbs will definitely differ from those in the heart of big cities, but it offers its own unique experiences and benefits. As a student, you'd get the chance to be part of a laid-back community and enjoy the state's natural beauty, while still having access to great educational institutions.
