What are some notable majors at Scripps College?

I'm looking into Scripps College and trying to learn more about the majors they offer. Does anyone know what programs they're particularly known for or where they excel? I'd love some input to help narrow down my choices.

Scripps College offers a broad range of majors, but certain areas are particularly noteworthy due to their depth and richness.

One major that Scripps excels in is Psychology, which is both popular and well-regarded. This department emphasizes the scientific study of behavior, and students get a broad foundation in psychology while also having the opportunity to focus on topics like developmental, social, or cognitive psychology.

The Humanities program is also quite strong, especially for a small liberal arts college. Within this area, English and Art History are standouts. The English program offers a broad and diverse curriculum, with concentrations such as fantasy literature, women's writing, and modern poetry. The Art History program, meanwhile, has excellent professors and takes advantage of the college’s location near major museums across Southern California.

Even within the sciences, Scripps has a robust offering. The college’s Keck Science Department, shared with Claremont McKenna and Pitzer College, offers strong programs in areas like biology, chemistry, and environmental science.

On top of these, Environmental Analysis and Media Studies are also popular majors at the college, reflecting its commitment to interdisciplinary and contemporary fields of study.

Remember, Scripps is part of the Claremont College consortium which means you can also take advantage of courses and majors offered by other colleges, such as Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, Pomona, and Harvey Mudd. This greatly expands the available fields of study beyond just what's available at Scripps itself.

Make sure to consider both your academic and career goals when choosing your field of study. And don't forget to think about what you enjoy and where your passions lie!
