Advice on high paying jobs with only a high school degree?

I'm planning to enter the workforce after graduating high school. What are some jobs that pay well and only require a high school diploma? I've heard there are good opportunities out there, but I'm not sure where to start looking.

There's definitely a range of professions available to you that can offer promising salaries without a degree. Here are some high paying jobs that typically require only a high school diploma, though depending on the industry, some might require further licensing or experience:

1. Transportation, storage, and distribution managers: These managers oversee the allocation, storage, and transport of a company's inventory. Some companies offer on-the-job training for this position.

2. Nuclear power reactor operators: This job involves operating or controlling nuclear reactors, moving control rods, starting and stopping equipment, monitoring and adjusting controls, and implementing emergency procedures when needed. While this job typically requires extensive on-the-job training, it typically does not require a college degree.

3. Commercial pilots: Commercial pilots operate aircraft for charter flights, rescue operations, firefighting, aerial photography, and crop dusting. Instead of a degree, commercial pilots need a high school diploma or equivalent, must be at least 18 years old, have a commercial pilot’s license, and have an instrument rating if they carry passengers for hire.

4. Elevator installers and repairers: They install, repair, and maintain elevators, escalators, moving walkways, and other lifts. While a high school diploma is typically needed, these workers also typically complete an apprenticeship.

5. Powerhouse, substation, and relay electricians: These workers maintain and repair electrical equipment in generating stations, substations, and in-service relays. While the position requires a high school diploma, candidates must also complete an apprenticeship.

6. Sales Representatives: In certain industries, such as wholesale and manufacturing, sales reps may be able to secure a position with a high school diploma. These positions often involve extensive on-the-job training and could potentially provide a hefty salary, particularly if the salary is commission-based.

Remember, these positions may require you to undergo vocational training, an apprenticeship, or certifications. And while these jobs can pay well, the most important thing is to find a career that you'll enjoy and be satisfied with in the long run.
