I'm considering UCSD for college, but I'm specifically interested in their business programs. Does anyone know which college within UCSD offers the best business courses or resources?
UCSD, unlike some other UC campuses, isn't divided into separate sub-schools (or "colleges") by major. Instead, when people talk about the "six colleges of UCSD," they're referring to a unique system wherein students belong to one of eight colleges – Revelle, Muir, Marshall, Warren, Roosevelt, Sixth, seventh, or eighth – regardless of their major. Each of these colleges has a different general education curriculum and a different sort of campus culture, but the business program doesn't specifically belong to just one of them.
At UCSD, a popular choice for students interested in business is to major in Business Economics, offered by the Department of Economics (which is certainly not confined to any one college). It's an interdisciplinary program that blends strong economic theory with business applications. Other potentially relevant majors include International Business and Management Science.
The Rady School of Management, meanwhile, is a separate entity at UCSD that does not deal directly with undergrad business majors. Still, it offers numerous resources that current students can take advantage of, such as the StartR incubator for start-ups, professional networking events, and a variety of non-credit entrepreneurial workshops. This is worth exploring no matter which college of UCSD you eventually land in.
