What is it like at Embry-Riddle's Arizona campus?

I'm thinking about going to Embry-Riddle's campus in Arizona. Does anyone have insights about the campus life, programs, or student experiences there?

Embry-Riddle's Arizona campus, commonly known as the Prescott Campus, boasts a unique feel nestled in the northern mountains of Arizona. It’s known for its close-knit community vibe, given its smaller size compared to many traditional colleges, with a relatively low student to faculty ratio.

Academically, as you might be aware, Embry Riddle is renowned for its aviation and aerospace programs. The Prescott Campus, in particular, houses the College of Aviation, which holds top-ranking programs for Aeronautical Science (both fixed wing and rotary wing) and Air Traffic Management. Other strong programs include Aerospace Engineering, Global Security and Intelligence, and Forensic Biology.

In terms of campus life, the smaller community fosters a lot of camaraderie amongst the students. There are numerous clubs and organizations to explore, covering a range of interests from professional, cultural, tech-oriented, to recreational. Intramural and club sports are popular, as are outdoor adventures facilitated by the locale's gorgeous natural surroundings - Prescott National Forest and Watson Lake are nearby which students often visit for hiking and boating.

Housing is primarily on-campus which adds to the sense of community. The on-campus dining options offer a variety of cuisines and dietary options. Lastly, the campus holds events throughout the year, including an annual OctoberWest homecoming weekend that entails an airshow, car show, and a range of alumni events.

However, do note that the cabin-feel of Prescott doesn’t provide the same bustling city life you might find at a larger public school. For some students that’s a draw, but different individuals have different preferences.

Seeing a campus for yourself, whether virtually or in person, can often give you a better sense of if it’s a fit or not. You can check out ERAU Prescott's visit options here: https://prescott.erau.edu/admissions/tour-details. If possible, I recommend chatting with current students or alumni about their experiences, as every individual's experience can vary.
