What are some good animation colleges to consider?

I'm really interested in pursuing a career in animation, but I'm not sure where to start. Could anyone recommend some good colleges with strong animation programs?

Absolutely, there are many great colleges known for their animation programs. Here are a few you might consider:

1. Ringling College of Art and Design: Ringling's Computer Animation program is one of the best in the nation and consistently ranked top in various surveys. Students develop skills ranging from storyboarding to 3D modeling.

2. California Institute of the Arts (CalArts): Known to many as the "Harvard of Animation," CalArts offers degree programs in Character Animation and Experimental Animation. It's worth noting that graduates have gone on to successful careers in large studios like Disney and Pixar.

3. Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD): SCAD offers BFA, MA, and MFA degrees in animation. Its curriculum is versatile, covering areas such as 2D, 3D, stop motion, and digital modeling.

4. University of Southern California: USC's Animation and Digital Arts program is known for pushing the boundaries of digital entertainment, including virtual reality, and has a variety of specializations students can pursue.

5. Rhode Island School of Design (RISD): RISD’s Film, Animation and Video major helps students develop technical competence and visual sophistication in the fields of animation.

Each of these schools offer robust programs with plenty of hands-on experience and deep coursework in the field. As you’re looking into these, I recommend you also consider factors like location, size, and overall campus culture to ensure it's a good fit overall. Your portfolio and artistic development will also play a crucial role in your admission, so developing strong drawing skills and exploring different animation techniques will be beneficial.
