Does UT Austin offer early action admissions?

I'm thinking of applying to UT Austin and I'm wondering if they have an early action option. If anyone has gone through this process, could you share your experience and how advantageous it might be to apply early?

The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) does not offer an Early Action (EA) or Early Decision (ED) application option. Instead, they have a priority deadline, which functions somewhat similarly to EA. The priority deadline is November 1st. If you submit your application by this date, you are considered for priority review, giving you an admission decision and scholarship notifications earlier than regular decision applicants.

So, in terms of timing, it's similar to applying EA because you'll hear back sooner. However, unlike EA, applying by the priority deadline does not necessarily increase your chances of admission. It primarily serves to get you a decision faster. It's also important to apply by this date if you want to be considered for certain university-wide scholarships and honors programs, as these typically require the priority deadline.

Remember, UT Austin has reintroduced the requirement for SAT or ACT scores for the 2024-2025 application cycle. Be sure your application is comprehensive and submit everything required by the university by the deadline.

Finally, UT Austin practices holistic admissions, meaning they consider all aspects of your application (grades, test scores, essays, resume, etc.) in their decision making process. Therefore, allow yourself enough time complete every section of your application thoughtfully and thoroughly, prior to the priority deadline if you want the benefits of an earlier decision.
