Questbridge recommendations - who should I ask?

Hey guys, I'm applying for the Questbridge program this year and I need to submit recommendation letters. I was wondering if anyone here has any advice on who I should ask? Should I prioritize teachers with whom I have a strong relationship, or those who are more familiar with the program?

Hello! When it comes to Questbridge recommendation letters, the best approach is to prioritize teachers with whom you have a strong relationship and can speak to your academic abilities, personal qualities, and potential for success in college. Ideally, these teachers should have taught you in core academic subjects (like math, science, English, history, or foreign languages) during your junior or senior year, as they can provide the most recent and relevant insight into your performance and growth as a student.

While it can be helpful if the teacher is familiar with the Questbridge program, it's not essential. What really matters is their ability to convey your intellectual curiosity, work ethic, and potential to thrive in a rigorous academic environment. If you're concerned about your recommenders not knowing much about Questbridge, you can always provide them with some basic information about the program and explain why you think you are a strong candidate for it.

In addition to your teachers, consider asking a counselor, coach, or extracurricular advisor who knows you well and can speak to your involvement and dedication outside of the classroom. This can provide a more comprehensive view of your character, interests, and passion for learning.

Remember to give the people you ask enough time (typically around 4-6 weeks) to write thoughtful and detailed letters of recommendation. Make sure to express your gratitude for their support and keep them updated on the outcome of your Questbridge application. Good luck!
