What business jobs can you get straight out of high school?

I'm finishing up high school soon and super interested in business. Are there any decent business-related jobs you can snag right after graduation? What should I be looking at if I don’t want to commit to college right away?

While many roles in the business world do require a college degree, there are some entry-level opportunities you can explore right after high school. Here are a few possibilities:

1. Sales Representative: Many business organizations, especially retail firms or insurance companies, are often in need of sales representatives. This role would involve selling products or services directly to clients.

2. Administrative Assistant: You can acquire valuable business skills working as an administrative assistant, handling office management tasks, scheduling, etc.

3. Customer Service Representative: Many companies hire customer service reps to interact with customers, handle their complaints, and process orders.

4. Real Estate Broker: This does require passing a licensing exam, but the education prerequisite generally only involves a certain number of hours of classes (which vary by state), rather than a full-on college degree.

5. Retail Management: While starting positions may be lower on the totem pole, like sales associate roles, there's often room to grow into a supervisor or manager role.

In addition to these roles, you could also consider entrepreneurship or starting your own business, if you have the resources and a strong business idea. Becoming an apprentice in a trade is also an available option; trades like plumbing and electrical work can have a business component in them--you get to learn how to manage a business from experienced professionals.

Remember, if you find after a few years in the workforce that you want to further your education and move up within a company, you can always consider attending college part-time while working, looking into online degree programs, or even enrolling in a community college.
