Any insights on good jobs with only a high school education?

Hey all, I'm thinking about going straight into work after graduating. Are there decent jobs out there for someone with only a high school education? I'd love to know about different industries that hire fresh grads!

Certainly, while a college degree can be valuable, it's not the only path to success. Many industries hire high school graduates and provide opportunities for advancement and earning potential. Here are a few examples:

1. Trade Jobs: These jobs would typically require a bit of additional vocational training or apprenticeship but are open to high school graduates. These jobs include electricians, plumbers, carpenters, HVAC technicians, and many more. In fact, the demand for skilled trade workers is high.

2. Emergency Services: Many positions in emergency services, such as firefighters, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), police officers, and similar roles are open to high school graduates. These positions often require completion of a training program and necessary certifications.

3. Military: The military provides a wide variety of roles suited to different skills and interests, from hands-on technical jobs to administrative roles. The military also provides opportunities for career advancement and benefits like tuition assistance for those who later decide to pursue higher education.

4. Sales and Retail: These positions often provide good entry-level opportunities that can lead to higher roles in management. Many companies also offer comprehensive in-house training, promoting from within and allowing you to climb the corporate ladder.

5. Food Industry Jobs: Culinary work, including starting as a line cook or server, can open doors to becoming a chef or restaurant manager, often through in-house training.

6. Transportation Jobs: Commercial driving jobs such as truck driving or working as couriers/delivery drivers only require a high school diploma alongside the necessary licensure.

7. Administrative Support: Office settings often have positions like administrative assistants, data entry clerks, or customer service representatives that require a high school diploma or an equivalent.

This is not an exhaustive list, and specific job requirements, wage potential, as well as room for advancement can vary widely, so doing research on specific fields of interest would be beneficial. Remember that these jobs often prefer or require certain certifications or training programs, but those can often be less time-intensive and costly than a 4-year degree.
