What are good jobs for people with just a high school diploma?

I'm exploring my job options and I only have a high school diploma. What are some good jobs I can aim for that don't require a college degree but still offer good career prospects?

Certainly, there are many rewarding careers that do not require a college degree. Here are a few to consider:

1. Trades: There are plenty of trades such as electrician, plumber, or HVAC technician that don't require a college degree, but do require vocational training and apprenticeships. Once you're licensed, you could work for a company or start your own business.

2. Public Safety: Roles in fire services, emergency medical services and law enforcement can require just a high school diploma along with training specific to the role. For example, one might attend a police academy or undergo EMT training.

3. Transportation: Commercial truck drivers often only need a high school diploma and to pass the CDL (Commercial Driver's License). Work in this field can involve long-haul driving, delivery routes, or specialized assignments.

4. Healthcare Support: Jobs such as certified nursing assistants (CNA) or medical assistants typically only require a certificate or diploma, which can often be earned in under a year.

5. Retail Management: While starting entry-level positions may not offer high salaries, progression to management roles in retail can lead to rewarding careers and decent pay.

6. Customer Service: If you're good at problem-solving and communication, customer service positions can be a great choice. Some technical support roles also fall under this category and may provide opportunities for advancement.

Remember, many of these jobs require specific training or certification, but they don't require a traditional four-year college degree. You can often find relevant free or low-cost training opportunities online or at a local community college. Long-term success in any career also depends on soft skills like communication, a strong work ethic, reliability, and problem-solving abilities. So be sure to build and leverage these skills in any job you pursue.
