Looking for good nursing schools in Virginia?

I'm a junior planning to pursue nursing and considering Virginia as a place to study. Does anyone know which schools have highly regarded nursing programs in the state?

Sure, Virginia offers some quite competitive nursing programs. The University of Virginia (UVA) is a standout. UVA's School of Nursing is consistently ranked among the top in the nation due to their rigorous curriculum and faculty research contributions. The baccalaureate nursing program is well-known for its rigorous curriculum and strong clinical component, where students get hands-on experience in various health care settings.

Another good option is Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Their School of Nursing offers a choice among several undergraduate pathways to a B.S. in Nursing, including traditional, accelerated, and RN to B.S. options.

There's also James Madison University (JMU), which features a BSN program with a strong emphasis on both theory and practice.

Additionally, George Mason University's (GMU) School of Nursing has a comprehensive BSN program and opportunities to participate in nursing research.

And lastly, Radford University is worth considering. The School of Nursing at Radford offers a variety of nursing programs and focuses on community-based nursing.

Deciding on the right nursing program also depends on factors other than simply rankings. You might want to consider issues like tuition and financial aid, the location and size of the school, and what kind of clinical experiences are included in the program. Be sure to consider these aspects when you're researching and choosing among the various schools.
