Full-time vs part-time job during the school year

As a high school student, I'm trying to decide between a full-time or part-time job during the school year. How do you balance the hours with schoolwork and extracurriculars? Any tips from those who've managed both successfully?

Balancing work with school and extracurricular activities can be quite challenging, but it's certainly not impossible, especially if you're mindful about managing your time and staying organized. Here are a few suggestions:

1. Prioritize: Determine what activities are most important to you. If you're preparing for college, it would be beneficial to prioritize your academic responsibilities and high-tier extracurriculars, as colleges prefer to see in-depth involvement in a few passions over a wide breadth of activities.

2. Time Management: Plan out schedules weekly, and always leave room for changes and unexpected events.

3. Flexibility: A part-time job might be a better choice as it allows more flexibility with your hours than a full-time job does, and this flexibility could come in handy during times of heavy school workload.

4. Rest: Always remember to take breaks and rest. It will be impossible to maintain good performance in your academics, part-time job, and extracurriculars if you're constantly tired.

The real-world skills and experience you gain from a job can be valuable and might even enhance your college applications, as long as it doesn't detract from your academic performance or participation in other meaningful activities. Be sure to consider your own capabilities and stress tolerance when making this decision. Good luck!
