Exploring high school band director job description

I'm a junior in high school and curious about what a band director does. If I've always loved band, could this be a good career path? What skills or degrees would be important to have?

A high school band director has many responsibilities beyond just conducting a band. They are responsible for teaching music theory and developing students' abilities to play various instruments, and they also typically determine the musical selections and performances each year. They work extensively on curriculum planning, lesson development, and grading.
