There are a number of colleges in Illinois that are renowned for their top-notch education programs.

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign tends to stand out due to its well-regarded College of Education. It offers various programs in areas like Elementary Education, Secondary Education, and Special Education. Graduates have often praised the rigorous curriculum and hands-on experience received during their student teaching placements.

Illinois State University in Normal is another institution that is recognized for its strong education programs. It has the largest College of Education in the state and is well-known for producing high-quality educators who go on to have successful careers in districts around Illinois and beyond.

Northwestern University, although it's a private institution, also offers a great program. Its School of Education and Social Policy is highly ranked nationally. Despite not offering a traditional undergraduate education major, they do offer a unique program in Learning and Organizational Change, as well as a secondary teaching certificate program.

Loyola University Chicago is another private institution to consider. Their School of Education offers undergraduate programs in Elementary Education and Secondary Education, as well as a slew of graduate programs if you're considering further education down the line.

Chicago State University and Eastern Illinois University are also worth looking into. They both offer various undergraduate and graduate programs in Education.

Remember, the "best" program greatly depends on your personal career goals and interests. It's important to research what each program offers in terms of coursework, teaching practicums, and extra-curricular opportunities to ensure it aligns with your aspirations in the field of education.
