Best Extracurricular Activities for Business College Applicants?

What are some of the best extracurriculars to get into if I'm planning to apply to business colleges? I'm looking for activities that will boost my application and show my interest in business. Any suggestions?

You're on the right track! Extracurricular activities demonstrating your interest and aptitude in business and entrepreneurship can certainly enhance your application. Here are some suggestions:

1. DECA: This is a popular high school club that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. Members often compete in business case competitions at local, state, and international levels which is a great way to show your business acumen.

2. Junior Achievement (JA): This is a nonprofit dedicated to preparing young people for economic success. It provides programs for K-12 students about entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy.

3. FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America): This high school club aims to bring business and education together through leadership development and academic competitions.

4. Internship/Work Experience: Try to find internships or part-time jobs related to business or your fields of interest. They can provide practical experience and insight into the industry.

5. Independent Projects: These can be really impactful if done well. Could you start a small online business, or create a business plan for a fictional company? This shows initiative, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

6. Economics or investment clubs: These clubs typically involve discussions about economic trends, investment strategies, and financial markets. They could offer a significant opportunity to show your curiosity and knowledge about the world of finance.

Remember it's not just about participating, but also about making meaningful contributions and taking on leadership roles. It's also encouraged that you branch out to activities beyond business, as Colleges generally look for well rounded candidates who also participate in community service, sports, arts, etc. Excellence and leadership in any field tends to reflect a potential for excellence and leadership in business, too.
