Seeking the best business school in New York

I'm interested in studying business in New York and want to know which colleges have the best programs. Does anyone have info on what makes them stand out or tips on the application process?

New York has multiple universities with strong business programs, but the Stern School of Business at New York University (NYU) and Columbia Business School at Columbia University are two renowned business schools that come to mind.

NYU Stern is known for its strong finance program and has strong ties to Wall Street, due to its proximity. It offers a variety of business majors including Finance, Accounting, and International Business, among others. Stern's students also have access to a broad array of internships and job opportunities in the city's financial district.

On the other hand, Columbia Business School is highly respected, offering an intense, collaborative environment. Columbia's focus on "Master Classes" gives students real-world business problem-solving experiences. Its strong alumni network also offers numerous networking opportunities.

For the application process, here are some general steps:

1. First thing first, make sure to maintain strong academic records as both programs are quite competitive. Admissions will look at high school coursework, GPA, and standardized testing (if provided).

2. Put a good level of effort into your application essays and clearly express your interest in business. Tailor your responses specifically to the school you're applying to, demonstrating you've done your research. Be explicit about how their business program aligns with your career goals.

3. Stern and Columbia value leadership and hands-on business experience. Engage in business-related extracurriculars such as DECA, FBLA, and school entrepreneurship clubs, or even better, starting your initiative or business!

4. Secure strong letters of recommendation. Aim to ask teachers who know you well and can speak to your interest and aptitude for business.

5. Finally, make sure your application holistically tells your story about who you are and why you're a fit for their business program. The more specific you can be about your fit with the school and program, the better.

Remember that these specific universities are quite competitive. It's always encouraged to apply to several schools to increase your options. Good luck!
