What's the atmosphere like at Virginia Tech?

I'm considering Virginia Tech for college, but I'm not sure what the vibe is like. For current students or anyone who visited recently, could you share your experiences with the campus atmosphere and student life?

Virginia Tech is generally known for having a friendly, spirited, and welcoming atmosphere. The students there often pride themselves on the principle of "Ut Prosim" which means "That I May Serve." This sense of community and service can be seen in various aspects of student life, from sporting events to volunteering initiatives.

The campus itself is nestled in the town of Blacksburg and students often celebrate the scenic beauty of the region, surrounded by mountains and greenery. This setting also offers a lot of opportunities for outdoor activities. Hiking, mountain biking, and exploring nearby Cascades waterfall are popular activities.

The Hokie spirit is very much felt during football games. The Enter Sandman entrance of the football team during home games is a renowned tradition and is a highly energized event, showing part of the overall passionate and enthusiastic vibe of the student body.

As for academics, Virginia Tech is especially known for its engineering and architecture programs, as well as its focus on STEM disciplines. However, it offers a wide variety of programs in other fields too, catering to a diverse array of interests.

Greek life does exist on campus, but it's by no means the defining attribute of social life. There are also over 800 student clubs and organizations, meaning there are opportunities for everyone to find their niche.
