Best Colleges in New York for Sports Management?

I'm looking to study sports management and want to stay in New York if possible. Can anyone recommend some of the top colleges in New York for this major? A good balance between academics and athletics would be ideal!

New York has several strong schools for studying Sports Management, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Let's start with the University at Syracuse. Its David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics offers a Bachelor's in Sport Management that is considered one of the best programs in the country. The school extends great opportunities for field experience and internships, which is quite important in this industry. Plus, being in Syracuse means you're close to plenty of professional sports teams, which enhances those opportunities.

Another option would be St. John's University in Queens. It has a Bachelors in Sport Management program that falls under the Peter J. Tobin College of Business. The advantage here is the business angle, which could provide a comprehensive understanding of the business side of sports. You also have the added advantage of proximity to New York City, a hub for major sports franchises and opportunities in sports management.

Lastly, Columbia University in New York City offers a Masters in Sports Management. Although it's a graduate program, it's worth mentioning due to the reputation and resources of the university. If you already have your undergraduate degree or plan on pursuing a Master's, this could be a great choice. This program is under the School of Professional Studies and combines Columbia’s standard of academic excellence with real-world experience in the industry.

Each of these schools also has sports teams ranging from D1 to D3, allowing you to be involved in athletics from both the participant and management perspectives. Good luck with your college search!
