What qualifications do you need for a high school coaching job?

I'm thinking about becoming a high school coach after college, and I'd love to know what kind of requirements there are. Do you need any specific degrees or certifications, or is it more about experience and passion for the sport?

First, a high school diploma or equivalent is universally required, and while not always necessary, having a degree related to sports, such as physical education or sports science, can be advantageous.
