Is a 2100 SAT score still good?

Hey y'all, I found my older sibling's SAT score and they scored a 2100 (on the old SAT version). Is that considered decent if they were applying to colleges today? I know the SAT has changed, so I'm not really sure how to judge the score.

Hi there! The old SAT was scored out of 2400, while the current SAT is scored out of 1600. A 2100 on the old SAT was indeed a solid score, which would have placed your sibling well above the national average.

To better understand how their score translates to the current SAT, you can use a concordance table provided by the College Board, which allows you to convert old SAT scores to new SAT scores. According to the concordance table, a 2100 on the old SAT is roughly equivalent to a 1440 on the current SAT.

This score is generally considered competitive, especially at moderately selective schools. However, keep in mind that each college and university has its own score expectations, so your sibling's score may have been excellent at some schools, and less impressive at others. I hope this helps!
