Any cool student art competitions I should know about?

Hi! I'm a high school junior who loves making art. Does anyone know of any student art competitions I should enter to get my work out there and possibly add to my college app? Thanks in advance!

Hello! It's wonderful that you're passionate about art and looking for opportunities to showcase your talent. Here are a few reputable national art competitions you can consider entering:

1. Scholastic Art & Writing Awards: This prestigious competition has recognized the work of talented young artists and writers since 1923. There are multiple categories and levels of recognition, from regional awards to national honors. Submission deadlines typically fall in December, so keep an eye on their website for updates.

2. National YoungArts Foundation: This organization offers a competition for students aged 15-18 in various disciplines, including visual arts. Selected winners may receive awards and also have the opportunity to participate in master classes led by renowned artists. The application opens in June each year.

3. Congressional Art Competition: Sponsored by members of the U.S. House of Representatives, this annual contest aims to recognize young artists in each congressional district. Winning entries are displayed in the Capitol Building for one year. You can check your eligibility and their deadlines on their website.

4. Doodle for Google: Google hosts an annual art contest where young artists (K-12) get a chance to create a doodle that might be featured on Google's homepage. In addition to exposure, winners can receive scholarships and technology packages for their schools. Keep an eye on the contest webpage for submission deadlines and past year's themes.

Your participation in any of these competitions can be a valuable addition to your college applications, as it showcases your creativity, skill, and dedication. Best of luck!
