What are some good colleges for aspiring zoologists?

I'm really into zoology and considering it as a career. Does anyone know which colleges have strong programs in zoology or animal sciences? I'd love to hear about your experiences or any specific college recommendations.

Definitely! There are several colleges renowned for their excellent zoology and animal science programs.

The University of Florida (UF) is one that comes quickly to mind. Their Zoology program is quite comprehensive, and as a part of it, you'd gain a broad understanding of animal biology from ecological and evolutionary perspectives. The campus has a lot of natural diversity nearby which provides great opportunities for hands-on learning.

Ohio State University (OSU), is another good option with a comprehensive Zoology program. The Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology at OSU merges data on fields including behavior, ecology, and physiology to understand issues ranging from conservation to disease.

Cornell University also has a strong Animal Science program, renowned for providing students with robust scientific and business skill sets. It focuses on applying biological and life science principles to the study of animals, as well as preparing students for roles in animal agriculture industries.

Another great point of interest is Colorado State University, which has an excellent Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology. This department enhances knowledge about fisheries and wildlife, using an applied approach. It also promotes sustainable management of these resources.

Lastly, don't forget about University of Wisconsin-Madison! They offer both Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Zoology, which would allow you to gain a broad overview of animal biology from molecules to ecosystems.

That said, make your decision also considering factors like location, size, selectivity, campus culture, and cost. Visit the schools, talk to current students, and don't be afraid to ask questions. The best fit will be unique to your personal circumstances and priorities. Good luck with your college search!
