What colleges offer programs to become a pilot?

I've always dreamed of becoming a pilot, and I'm looking for colleges with good aviation programs. Can anyone recommend schools that are known for training pilots? I'd love to know about the program specifics and campus life too.

Your interest in becoming a pilot is exciting! There are a number of institutions with top-notch aviation programs that you might consider.

First, the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University offers a comprehensive Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics program which blends flight training with academic study to provide a foundation in airlines, corporate and commercial aviation, or military aviation. It's considered one of the best for aviation, and offer various concentrations. The campus community is largely geared towards aviation and engineering, which could provide a unique immersive environment.

University of North Dakota also has a highly respected aviation program. They offer a four-year Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics with a major in commercial aviation which allows students to gain a lot of flight experience. The campus life at UND has a friendly, mid-western feel with a large variety of sports, clubs and activities.

The Purdue University College of Engineering also offers an aerospace engineering program that encompass a broad range of topics, including flight dynamics, aircraft performance, and flight testing. Purdue has a thriving campus life with numerous extracurricular activities and is well-known for its strong engineering programs in general.

Lastly, Ohio State University offers a Bachelor of Science in Aviation. Ohio State provides excellent flight education and rigorous training. As one of the largest universities in the U.S., Ohio State University offers a vibrant campus life with a host of student activities, organizations, and events, both related and unrelated to aviation.

Remember, when looking for an aviation program, be sure to consider the duration of the program, the costs (and if any financial aid is available), and the type of certification you'll earn at the end. Also, visit campuses if you can, to get a feel for the program and the overall student life.
