Boston is a fantastic city for college students, with over 250,000 students in the city and more than 40 colleges and universities. The environment is intellectually stimulating, vibrant, and diverse. You'll be surrounded by fellow students from all over the world studying a wide range of disciplines.

Some of the major colleges in Boston include Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston University, and Northeastern University. There are also many other notable institutions in the vicinity such as Tufts University, Bentley University, and Wellesley College. Deciding on which school to apply will much depend on your academic interests and career goals. For instance, if you're interested in engineering, MIT would be a top choice, whereas someone looking into liberal arts might consider Harvard or Tufts.

In terms of student life, Boston has an ample amount of activities to offer. The city is full of cultural destinations like museums, music venues, theatres, and sports events. Fenway Park is a must visit if you're a fan of baseball. Food enthusiasts would also appreciate the culinary diversity offered by countless restaurants and food trucks around the city.

Boston is also known for its array of annual events such as the Boston Marathon, Head of the Charles Regatta, and Saint Patrick’s Day Parade which bring together a large crowd of students and locals alike.

Regarding the environment, many students enjoy the city's mix of historical and modern aspects. The public transportation system is also relatively reliable, making it easy to commute even if your college is in one of the city's outskirts. However, it's also a very walkable city, with many universities located within a short distance of each other.

Just keep in mind that winters can be harsh in Boston, with heavy snow and biting cold not uncommon. So, pack accordingly if you're coming from a warmer climate!
