How can I find CNA jobs while still in high school?

I'm interested in becoming a certified nursing assistant while still in high school. Do you guys know what I would need to get started and how to find any entry-level positions?

To start as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) while still in high school, you'll first need to complete a state-approved CNA training program. These programs typically require a high school diploma or GED, and some, but not all, may accept high school students. Check with local vocational schools, community colleges, and nursing homes, as they often offer these courses.

Once you've completed the program, you'll need to pass your state's competency exam to become officially certified. This exam generally includes both a written component and a practical skills assessment. Note that in some states, you may need to be 18 to take the exam, so check with your state board of nursing to confirm their guidelines.

Once certified, you can start your CNA job search. Begin with local hospitals, nursing homes, and home healthcare agencies, as they are commonly in need of CNAs. You can also look at online job boards, such as Indeed, Monster, or Glassdoor. Remember to indicate in your application that you're still a high school student and outline your available hours so employers can match your school schedule with their needs.

Networking can also be a huge help. Tell teachers, counselors, and anyone you know in healthcare that you're certified and looking for work. They may have connections or know of job openings that aren't posted online.

Keep in mind, some employers might prefer you to have CPR certification or experience with patient care, so look into obtaining those if the option's available.

Good luck on your journey to becoming a CNA while in high school! It's a challenging but rewarding path, and you're getting a head start in the healthcare field. It's a fantastic opportunity to gain experience and see if a career in healthcare is the right fit for you.
