How does Maryland rank among the best universities?

I'm trying to figure out which universities in Maryland are highly ranked. Does anyone know which Maryland schools are considered the best and what criteria they excel in? I'm particularly interested in their programs for my potential major.

Among the universities in Maryland, the most highly ranked would be Johns Hopkins University found in Baltimore. This institution consistently ranks among the top global and national universities in many respected higher education rankings. It is particularly renowned for its programs in Medicine, Public Health, Engineering, and International Relations. However, its strength extends beyond just these specialties, as it is known for its high-quality education across a wide range of disciplines.

The University of Maryland, College Park is another excellent university in the state. A member of the prestigious Association of American Universities, it's particularly known for its strong programs in Business, Computer Science, Information Studies, and Engineering.

There's also the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) which has gained recognition for its commitment to undergraduate teaching.

A school’s ranking can be determined by a range of factors, including (but not limited to) the academic rigor of its programs, faculty qualifications, student outcomes like graduation/career rates, and research performance. Each college also has its specific strengths and areas of focus, so it’s important to explore individual programs of interest as you evaluate schools.

Remember, rankings can be a helpful starting point, but they're not the only thing to consider when choosing a college. Think about the environment, the culture, and the available resources that align with your goals and values. It's also essential to visit the school or engage with current students if you can, as this can give you a more nuanced understanding of what each institution offers.
