What should a high schooler's summer job resume look like?

I'm putting together my resume for summer job applications and am not sure what to include. Can anyone share examples or tips on how to make it look professional, even if I don't have much experience yet?

Sure, I'm glad to help! When it comes to drafting a resume, the objective is to showcase your skills, accomplishments, and experiences to your potential employers. Even with limited work experience, you can still create a compelling resume! Here's how:

1. Contact Information: Include your full name, phone number, and professional email at the top of your resume.

2. Objective Statement: Since you're a high school student, it would be beneficial to include an objective statement. This should be a simple, clear statement about the type of role you're seeking and how you aim to contribute.

3. Education: Since you're in high school, you'll want to include your school name, the years you've attended, and any relevant courses if applicable. If you have a strong GPA, you might consider adding that here too.

4. Skills: Identify transferable skills that are relevant to the job you’re applying for - things like customer service skills, time management, or proficiency in specific computer programs.

5. Work Experience (if any): If you have any previous part-time jobs, babysitting gigs, or even volunteer work, list them here - include the role, where you worked, and the dates. Be sure to detail your responsibilities and achievements in each role.

6. Extracurricular Activities: Include any clubs or organizations you've been part of including any leadership roles. This could be a club at school, a sports team, or local community organization.

7. Honors and Awards (if any): This could include any academic honors you've received or any awards from extracurricular activities.

8. References: It's acceptable at this point to say "References available upon request" if you are short on space. However, if you do include references, make sure you've gotten the person's permission first.

Remember to proofread multiple times and have someone else review your resume to ensure clear, error-free communication. Good luck!
