Finding a job as a high schooler in Ann Arbor?

I'm a junior in high school living in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and I'm trying to find a part-time job during the school year. What kind of jobs are available for high schoolers in Ann Arbor, and where should I start looking?

There are quite a few part-time job opportunities for high school students in Ann Arbor and it's a good way to gain life skills and make some extra money.

1. Retail: Many malls and individual stores hire high school students. Check out the Briarwood Mall or local stores in downtown Ann Arbor. They often need help during weekends or evenings.

2. Food Service: Fast-food chains and some local restaurants could be hiring. Also, some local bakeries or ice cream shops take on high school students, especially for shifts after school and on weekends.

3. Fitness Centers: Local gyms or community recreation centers often need help with front-desk, towel service, or even kids' activities.

4. Tutoring: If you're particularly strong in a subject or play a musical instrument, tutoring can be a great way to earn some money.

5. Baby Sitting or Pet Sitting: Often, these jobs can be found via personal networks or through local community networks.

In terms of resources, start by checking online job boards, such as Indeed, Glassdoor, or LinkedIn, specifically tailored towards high school part-time jobs. Another excellent place to start is your school's counseling or career resources office – they may have leads on businesses that frequently hire students from your school. And last but not the least, leverage your personal networks. Let friends, family, and acquaintances know that you are looking for a job. Word-of-mouth can often turn up opportunities that aren't widely advertised.

Remember to tailor your application to the job you're applying for, showcasing any relevant skills or experiences you have in a CV or cover letter. Good luck!
