Top gender studies programs in the US?

I'm considering majoring in gender studies and want to find a school with a strong program. I've looked into a few schools, but I'm wondering which ones are regarded as the best for gender studies at the undergraduate level.

Several colleges and universities across the U.S. have strong gender studies programs, and the best one for you will depend on your specific interests within the field. However, there are a few institutions often noted for their emphasis and strengths in gender studies.

University of California, Berkeley is known for its interdisciplinary approach to gender and women's studies, offering both a major and minor that span a wide range of topics within the field.

Over on the East Coast, Brown University also offers comprehensive and rigorous gender studies program. Brown's Gender and Sexuality Studies concentration is interdisciplinary and allows students to pursue a variety of research interests.

Similarly, Harvard University's Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality program integrates the analysis of race, class, and sexuality into its core curriculum. It encourages students to examine gender constructions in diverse cultural and historical contexts.

University of Chicago's Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality offers an interdisciplinary program that covers both theoretical and empirical subjects. While they don't offer a standalone major in gender studies, students can pair the gender and sexuality studies minor with a variety of majors.

Narrative-focused, the University of Southern California's Gender Studies program allows students to explore questions of gender and sexuality through critical analysis and interpretation of cultural works (literature, film, visual art, music).

Keep in mind that the "best" program for you is highly personal and depends on your individual interests, career goals, and preferred learning environment. Dig into each program's curriculum, faculty, and specific course offerings to see which aligns most with your academic goals. Additionally, contacting current students or faculty can give you a better sense of what it's like to study gender studies at these schools.
