Best schools for environmental studies in the US?

I'm passionate about sustainability and the environment. Are there any colleges in the US that stand out for their environmental studies programs? I'd love to hear about campuses with a strong focus on this.

Absolutely, there are several colleges in the U.S. renowned for their environmental studies programs:

1. University of California, Berkeley (Berkeley): Berkeley's Environmental Sciences department is highly recognized. It has a strong focus on research and offers various specializations within the major. Berkeley's College of Natural Resources is also well-regarded, providing students with hands-on research opportunities.

2. Stanford University (Stanford): Stanford is another strong contender due to its interdisciplinary Environmental Sciences, Technology, and Policy program, which integrates knowledge from social sciences, natural sciences, and technology.

3. Middlebury College: Middlebury, a small liberal arts college in Vermont, offers a robust environmental studies program. Middlebury has a strong commitment to sustainability and even operates its own organic farm.

4. Colorado College: Colorado College operates on a unique block schedule where students take one course at a time for three and a half weeks. This provides ample opportunities for immersive fieldwork in environmental studies.

5. College of the Atlantic (COA): This college is unique because EVERY student studies "Human Ecology," which is a multidisciplinary degree that includes environmental science, policy and design. The campus is also located in a pristine ecological setting near Acadia National Park in Maine.

6. University of Washington (UW): UW is known for its College of the Environment, which provides students with an immersive experience in environmental studies, bolstered by the university's location and access to diverse natural resources.

7. Dartmouth College: Dartmouth provides a unique interdisciplinary environmental studies program at its School of Environmental and Sustainability Sciences that's enriched by its location in rural New Hampshire.

Each of these schools have pretty strong commitments to sustainability, whether that's through their curriculum, green initiatives on campus, or both. I recommend researching each of these options to see which fits your personal goals and preferences.
