Job applications asking for GPA - what should I put?

Some job apps want my high school GPA. I have an okay GPA, but I'm not sure if it's best to leave it out or include it. Does it really matter for part-time jobs while still in school?

When it comes to part-time jobs while still in school, employers do request your GPA to get a sense of your academic performance. It might not be the central factor they consider, but it can add to your application strength. It all depends on the job in question and the requirements or expectations laid out in the job posting.

If your GPA is not explicitly mentioned as a requirement and you feel it might not reflect your abilities accurately, leaving it out is an option. However, be prepared to discuss it if asked in an interview. If your GPA is above average or shows continuous improvement, include it on your application as it signifies dedication and commitment.

Additionally, it's important to remember that your GPA is just one aspect of your application. Employers will also be considering your skills, experiences, and fit for the role.

Lastly, if you're worried about your GPA, consider leveraging other parts of your resume. Highlight relevant coursework, part-time jobs, internships, volunteering work, or extracurriculars where you have gained transferable skills that align with the job description. Be sure to provide examples of your responsibilities and achievements in these roles, as these will showcase your abilities and potential contribution to the job, regardless of your GPA.
