Seasonal jobs in the U.S. Virgin Islands?

I've been dreaming of heading to the U.S. Virgin Islands for a while, and I thought a seasonal job might be a good way to make it happen. Has anyone done this, and can you share what kinds of jobs are available?

Hi there!

A seasonal job in the U.S. Virgin Islands sounds like an amazing adventure! There are several types of jobs you could consider, depending on your interests and skills.

The tourism industry is a prominent employment sector in the U.S. Virgin Islands, particularly during the peak tourism season, which is December through April. During this time, jobs such as tour guiding, equipment rentals and maintenance, or concierge services in resorts and hotels might increase. Also, working on a charter yacht can be a fun way to enjoy the stunning beauty of the islands while working. If you have a background in hospitality, you might seek out positions at the many restaurants, bars, and cafes in the area.

Additionally, seasonal retail jobs, particularly in shops that cater to tourists, may be an option. The U.S. Virgin Islands are a popular shopping destination, and during the tourist season, many stores look for extra help.

Finally, the National Park service often hires seasonal workers. For instance, the Virgin Islands National Park on St. John is known to hire seasonal park rangers and other staff.

Always, remember to have the appropriate work permits and visas if they're required as these vary greatly depending on your citizenship status. Good luck with your job search! Enjoy your time in the U.S. Virgin Islands!
