What does a seasonal Target job mean for a high schooler?

I've been considering applying for a seasonal job at Target. Can anyone share what this might look like for a high school student? How are the hours and responsibilities different from a normal part-time role?

Taking up a seasonal job at Target, or any retail store, typically means you'd be joining their team during a high-demand period, such as the holiday season, back-to-school time, or in the summer. These positions are temporary and usually last a few weeks to a couple of months.

As a high school student, it's important to note that labor laws restrict the number of hours you can work. However, during busy times like the holidays, you might see longer and more varied shifts. You might find yourself working evenings, weekends, or over school holidays to accommodate increased store traffic.

Responsibilities aren't drastically different from regular part-time roles. You might be tasked with tasks like greeting customers, helping them find items, stocking shelves, working at the checkout, or keeping the store tidy. During seasonal periods, there's often a heavier emphasis on maintaining stock levels and providing good customer service due to larger customer volumes.

Keep in mind that seasonal jobs can offer experience which could be beneficial in future job applications, a chance to improve interpersonal skills, and a way to earn some income. Additionally, performing well in a seasonal role could potentially lead to a non-seasonal part-time job offer, should the business have availability and you've shown dedication and a strong work ethic.
