What types of seasonal jobs are available to high schoolers?

I'm a high school junior and looking to find a seasonal job to earn some cash. What are some common types of seasonal positions for someone in my situation? Any tips on which ones are more fun or flexible?

There are quite a number of seasonal jobs high school students could consider to earn some extra money:

1. Retail Sales Associate: Around the holidays, retailers often hire additional staff to manage the holiday rush. The duties might involve arranging merchandise, manhandling checkout procedures, helping customers, etc. The holiday season can be a fun time to work in retail due to the cheerful atmosphere.

2. Lifeguard: If you're near a beach or a local pool and it's summertime, you might consider becoming a lifeguard. It would require some training and certification, but it can be a rewarding job, especially if you enjoy being outdoors and around water.

3. Camp Counselor: Summer camps often hire high school students as camp counselors. This type of job usually involves leading and supervising children's camp activities.

4. Food Service: Ice cream shops, concession stands, or food trucks may need extra help during busy seasons. This could involve taking orders, serving customers, and keeping the area clean.

5. Landscaping or Snow Shoveling: Depending on the season, there might be work either for yard maintenance during the spring and summer, or snow removal in the winter.

6. Tutoring: You might think about tutoring younger students if it's close to exam season. It's a good way to earn some money while also reinforcing your knowledge about different subjects.

Regarding which jobs are more fun or flexible, it really depends on your own interests and schedule. Retail and food service jobs might offer more flexible schedules, but if you enjoy working with kids, being a camp counselor or tutor could be more enjoyable. Always try to choose a job that aligns with your interests, as it won't only be a source of income, but also a source of enjoyment.
