How to find USA ski season jobs?

I'd love to find a seasonal job during the ski season, preferably in the USA. What kind of roles are typically available, and does anyone have tips on securing one?

There's a wide range of seasonal jobs you could consider during the ski season. These span from being an on-mountain, outdoor job to a more customer service-oriented role indoors. Here are some examples:

1. Ski/Snowboarding Instructor: If you're an experienced skier or snowboarder, consider teaching others. This may require some certifications and is moderately competitive.

2. Lift Operator: Major duty would include operating the ski lift and assisting skiers getting on and off. It's a great way to be outdoor and it doesn't require extensive skiing/snowboarding experience.

3. Ski Patroller: This role is for ensuring the safety of ski trails and the skiers on them. It would require first aid knowledge and decent skiing ability.

4. Food and Beverage: Resorts have cafes and restaurants that would need baristas, waitstaff, etc.

5. Resort Staff: Roles may include front desk representatives at resort lodgings, health spa services, cleaning and maintenance services.

To secure one, start by visiting the websites of ski resorts where you'd like to work, as they usually post job availabilities. Look at the job requirements and make sure your application shows how your skills make you a suitable candidate.

Also, use job search websites and specify 'winter seasonal' or 'ski' in your hunt to locate opportunities around the country. Start applying early (i.e., in the summer or early autumn) for winter roles.

Consider reaching out to past workers or people who have experience in this field for further advice and potential networking opportunities. Make sure to express your passion for skiing and the outdoors in your application or interview, as this can make you stand out!

Remember, you should be prepared for the living arrangements. Some resorts provide employee housing, but others don't, and in peak season finding housing can be competitive. Lastly, keep in mind these jobs could involve working in harsh weather and during holidays and weekends, as that's when most people visit ski resorts.
