What are wage rates for seasonal Halloween jobs?

I'm thinking about taking on a seasonal Halloween job next fall. Does anyone know what the average wage rate is for these types of positions? Are there particular roles that pay better than others?

Seasonal Halloween jobs can range from retail positions, such as working in Halloween costume stores or decorating departments, to scare actors in haunted houses or Halloween-themed amusement park events. The pay can vary significantly depending on the position, the location, the company, and the level of experience required.

In general though, retail positions often offer minimum wage, or slightly above that. As of 2024, the federal minimum wage in the U.S. is $7.25 per hour, but many states have higher minimum wages, with some up to $15 per hour.

Working as a scare actor, which may require more acting ability and potentially long hours in potentially difficult conditions (like outside at night in October), might pay a little more. According to salary data, the pay for such roles is generally within the range of $10 to $15 per hour.

Jobs that are associated with helping coordinate or manage the events or stores often offer higher pay, since they come with more responsibility. For example, if you were a manager at a Halloween store, you could expect a higher wage, potentially in the $15 to $20 per hour range.

Remember that these are general estimates and the actual wage can vary depending on a multitude of factors. The most accurate information would come directly from job postings or by asking during the application or interview process.
