What are the top community colleges in Houston for nursing programs?

I'm looking to start my nursing career at a community college and live near Houston. Can anyone recommend some of the best community colleges for nursing in that area? I'd love to hear about programs and personal experiences.

Houston has a number of excellent community colleges offering robust nursing programs.

1. Houston Community College System: Consistently rated among the top nursing programs in the city, HCC offers several pathways to a nursing degree, including an LVN to RN bridge program that provides flexibility to students wishing to start their nursing career faster.

2. San Jacinto Community College: This college has been praised for its top-rated Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program and also offers a transition program, allowing LVNs to pursue their RN license.

3. Lone Star College: LSC has a highly-rated range of nursing programs, including the ADN and a number of RN to BSN tracks suitable for students looking to further their career into more advanced nursing roles.

4. Alvin Community College: ACC offers both an LVN program and an ADN program. The LVN program can be completed in about a year, and after two semesters of work experience, graduates are eligible for admission to the Transition entry into the ADN.

While these all are reputable institutions, you might want to consider factors like available classes, pass rate on the NCLEX-RN exam, financial aid, and location while choosing from them. As far as personal experiences go, while I can't provide my own, many students have noted these colleges for their quality instruction, comprehensive clinical practice, and supportive learning environments, which prepare students well for the NCLEX-RN exam and their future careers.
