Wisconsin Nursing Programs: Which Are the Best?

I'm looking at nursing programs in Wisconsin and want to find out which schools are considered the best. Any recommendations or experiences to share? I'm particularly interested in ones with great hands-on training.

When it comes to nursing programs in Wisconsin, a few institutions stand out for their hands-on training and robust curriculum. Here are three to consider:

1. University of Wisconsin-Madison - UW Madison's College of Nursing offers a well-respected Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. It's known for its excellent clinical placements across multiple speciality areas, providing students with rigorous hands-on experience. Do note that you will spend your first two years as a pre-nursing student and will have to apply for the nursing program halfway through your sophomore year.

2. Marquette University: Marquette’s College of Nursing in Milwaukee offers a BSN program that is recognized for its high-quality nursing education and clinical practicum experiences. Students at Marquette have opportunities for direct care, decision-making, advocacy, and management in various healthcare settings.

3. University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire: UW-Eau Claire's College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers a traditional BSN program known for its immersive clinical experiences. The program has built strong relationships with many clinical partners, thus students have a wide range of hands-on opportunities to choose from.

Remember, the 'best' program will also depend on your personal preferences, such as location, size of the institution, and the specific areas of nursing you're interested in (pediatrics, oncology, critical care, etc.). Depending upon your interest, one institution could provide better opportunities than others.

In addition to considering the program's curricular offerings, also consider factors such as NCLEX pass rates and the availability of on-campus resources, including career services and cutting-edge simulation labs. After all, your ultimate goal is to pass the NCLEX and become a successful nurse, so you want a program that will best prepare you for this.

While this list is not exhaustive, it might be a good starting point for you. Good luck with your search!
