Best colleges for clothing design?

I'm passionate about clothing design and planning to apply to colleges. Can anyone suggest schools that are renowned for their clothing design programs? Personal experiences or thoughts would be super helpful!

Absolutely! There are excellent clothing design (also known as fashion design) programs available at schools across the country.

The Parsons School of Design at The New School in New York is one of the most prestigious fashion design programs in the world. Its prominent alumni include Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang. Parsons has a rigorous curriculum and is known for its excellent faculty and resources.

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), also in New York, is another well-recognized school for fashion design. It offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Fashion Design, and students can choose from specialties like sports fashion and children's wear.

In California, the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles offers a BFA in Fashion Design where students can learn from highly experienced faculty and engage in collaborations with well-known companies.

The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Georgia offers a BA and a BFA in Fashion, as well as an MA and an MFA. SCAD prides itself in its focus on runway presentations and its vast network within the fashion industry.

The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) also has a renowned fashion design program, with many of their graduates finding employment in high-end fashion houses globally.

In choosing a program, consider the curriculum, the faculty's expertise, the school's relationships with fashion houses, and opportunities for internships or employment after graduation. Visit the schools if possible, as the site and surroundings can affect your learning experience. Good luck with your applications!
