Best small liberal arts colleges for creative writing?

I'm really into creative writing and thinking about going to a small liberal arts college. Which schools have strong programs for budding writers like me? Looking for a place where I can thrive creatively!

You've got a great focus for your college search! There are a number of small liberal arts colleges renowned for their creative writing programs which cultivate writers in an inspiring environment:

1. Kenyon College, in Ohio, has a rich history in creative writing, boasting a number of successful authors amongst its alumni including E.L. Doctorow and Laura Hillenbrand. They offer an array of workshops in various genres and have an esteemed literary magazine.

2. Oberlin College, also in Ohio, is known for its Creative Writing Program which has produced many successful authors. The school also has an acclaimed visiting writers series.

3. Amherst College, in Massachusetts, offers a creative writing Special Topics course and presents the opportunity for students to pursue an independent writing project in their senior year.

4. Middlebury College, in Vermont, is home to the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, which is one of America's oldest and most illustrious writer's conferences.

5. Hamilton College, in New York, provides ample opportunities for students to engage in workshops and literature courses. They also have an annual event called "Literature and Creative Writing Senior Reading" where seniors share their works.

Remember, the best program for you would be the one that aligns with your personal writing style and interests. Therefore, I would highly recommend reaching out to the admissions office or professor of these colleges to get a better understanding of the program structure, curriculum along with reading culture and published works of their faculty and students. Also, looking into the opportunities for publications, readings, mentorships, and guest author lectures can be beneficial too.
