Best small colleges for biology in New Mexico?

I'm looking to pursue a bachelor's in biology and would love to find a small college in New Mexico that's strong in that field. Does anyone have recommendations or experiences they can share about good biology programs in small settings?

One college you might want to consider for biology in New Mexico is St. John's College in Santa Fe. St. John's is definitely on the smaller side, with approximately 350 undergraduate students. What makes this school unique is its great book curriculum, where students explore the foundational works of Western society across disciplines. Instead of a traditional biology major, St. John's includes biology in their comprehensive science program. Biology topics are integrated with other sciences for a broad and interconnected understanding.

Another small institution you may want to look into is the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech) based in Socorro. New Mexico Tech is renowned for its rigorous science and engineering programs, which include a thorough and research-intensive Biology Department. The campus size is small with an undergraduate population of around 1,700 students. While it's technically a public university, it maintains the intimate feel of a small liberal arts college with a low student-to-faculty ratio.

Remember to research each school thoroughly to ensure the right fit for you, as both of these institutions have unique teaching methods and curricula that may or may not appeal to your learning style and career goals.
