Where are the top ballet programs in college?

I've been dancing ballet for years and want to pursue it seriously in college. Which colleges offer the best ballet programs? I'd love to hear about schools that have strong performances and good dance facilities.

You're considering some important criteria in your search for ideal ballet programs. Strong facilities and performance opportunities help to enrich the dance experience at a university.

Hailed as having some of the top ballet programs in the nation, Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, and The Juilliard School in New York City are highly respected. Indiana University offers both a ballet major and a minor. Their faculty is rich with former professional dancers, and they often bring in guest artists to enhance the breadth of training. Similarly, The Juilliard School's degree programs in dance offer in-depth training in classical ballet and modern dance techniques.

The University of Utah's School of Dance is another solid choice with its Ballet BFA program. The school offers a comprehensive, rigorous, and innovative conservatory approach that leads to a broad understanding of the technical, aesthetic, and historical aspects of the art form.

The Boston Conservatory at Berklee (not to be confused with Berklee College of Music, also in Boston) offers an acclaimed ballet program. This institution provides a strong technical foundation and fosters creativity among its students, with numerous performance opportunities to enrich the study.

The University of Arizona’s School of Dance is also noteworthy. This program is unique for its equal emphasis on ballet, modern, and jazz dance techniques.

Lastly, the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music holds a well-regarded ballet program. It provides seven full-length ballets as well as student choreography projects, adding up to a robust performance regimen.

Each of these schools is known for its strong ballet programs, some leaning more towards classical ballet, while others incorporate more contemporary techniques. I encourage you to explore each school further to understand which might best align with your personal style and professional goals. Remember to also consider factors like location, size, and overall college culture before you make a final decision.
